CAVITE: The Historical Capital of the Philippines

Cavite is named as the Historical Capital of the Philippines. It is the cradle of Philippine Revolution, and the birthplace of Philippine Independence.

It's a province of the Philippines located on the southern shores of Manila Bay in the CALABARZON region in Luzon, just 30 kilometers south of Manila. Cavite is surrounded by Laguna to the east, Metro Manila to the northeast, and Batangas to the south. To the west lies the South China Sea.

Cavite is one of the most industrialized and one of the fastest growing provinces in the country due to its close proximity to Metro ManilaSince the 1990's when the provincial government launched the Second Revolution with industrialization as one of its priority thrusts, Cavite has become a preferred destination of both local and foreign investors. Rapid urbanization has transformed Cavite into an industrial and commercial area in CALABARZON.

There are three main highways transversing through the province: the Aguinaldo Highway that runs in a general north-south direction; the Governor's Drive the runs in a general east-west direction and the A. Soriano Highway that runs within the coastal towns on the west.

On May 1 the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway  (CAVITEX) is a 6.6 km tollway/expressway considered part of the Radial Road 1 (R-1) of Metro Manilawere opened to the public. Cavitex is said to withstand a six magnitude earthquake and can accommodate a light plane that may intend to land, perhaps in cases of emergency. In newspaper ads, UEM-Mara Philippines, said "Cavitex will cut travel time from Zapote to Kawit (towns in Cavite) to only eight minutes. From Manila to Kawit, travel time will be 20 minutes instead of an hour and a half". Cavitex will be a boost to Cavite tourism and will allow commercial traffic to move goods quicker from Port Area and NAIA to the Cavite Export Processing Zone.
